La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo el estudio del dominio afectivo (actitudes, creencias y emociones) de estudiantes para maestro de la Universidad de Extremadura (España) en relación con el aprendizaje de las matemáticas, dada su importancia e influencia en los afectos del alumnado y en los logros de éstos en dicha disciplina. Además pueden explicar gran parte de la atracción o rechazo hacia las matemáticas. Es un resumen del estudio titulado Las actitudes y emociones ante las Matemáticas de los estudiantes para Maestros de la Facultad de Educación de la Universidad de Extremadura realizado por Caballero (2007). La muestra respondió a un cuestionario de 48 ítems. Se hizo un análisis descriptivo e inferencial de los datos, revelando la necesidad de mejorar factores afectivos de los estudiantes, ya que muestran falta de autoconfianza, seguridad, calma y tranquilidad ante la resolución de problemas matemáticos. No se perciben capaces y hábiles en matemáticas ni hacen uso de distintas estrategias para la resolución de los problemas matemáticos (Nota 1).<br>The purpose of this work was to study the affective domain (attitudes, beliefs, and emotions) of prospective primary education teachers at the University of Extremadura (Spain) in relation to learning mathematics; given its importance and influence on the affective behaviour of primary pupils and their achievements in that discipline. This behaviour may also explain much of the attraction and rejection primary pupils show towards mathematics. This paper is a summary of the study by Caballero (2007) entitled Attitudes and Emotions towards Mathematics by Primary Education prospective Teachers at the University of Extremadura. A sample responded to a 48-item questionnaire. Data was subjected to a descriptive and inferential analysis. Results showed the need to improve students' affective factors, since they showed nervousness, lack of self confidence, inability to solve mathematics problems, lack of skills in the use of strategies for solving mathematics problems.
