Resumen:En el presente artículo se analiza un grupo de mujeres mayores, de 50 años a 72 años de edad, quienes participan desde el 2008, en un curso de capacitación para enfrentar los cambios y los desafíos de la vejez, asistiendo al Programa de Atención Integral de la Persona Adulta Mayor, de la Sede de Occidente. Ellas re-construyen una estructura de pensamiento acorde con el significado de su propio proceso de envejecimiento y vejez, al que relacionan con formas diferentes de acción e innovación y, con una búsqueda constante de autonomía. De esta manera, hacen una ruptura de ciertas creencias, prejuicios y preconceptos sociales, sobre el envejecimiento femenino, que aún se sostienen en algunos contenidos de la gerontología educativa. En la práctica metodológica del curso, se enfoca el interés en los procesos de interacción social, en “espacios cualitativos”, donde formulan el punto de partida central, para una gerontología educativa con perspectiva de género. En dichos espacios, ellas siempre han expresado grandes deseos de aprender a enfrentar los temores que poseen frente a su propia vejez, ante los cambios que ya están decididas a realizar en esta etapa de la vida y, a proyectar ese re-conocimiento de sí mismas a otras mujeres adultas mayores.Abstract:This article analyzes how a group of elderly women participating in a training course to face their changes and challenges in elderly stages of life, re-build a structure of thought that matches the meaning of their own aging process and of that of elderly age itself. These women relate this process to various forms of action and innovation and to a constant search for autonomy, breaking up with certain beliefs, prejudices, and social preconceptions, regarding female aging, which still remain in some contents of educational gerontology. In developing the methodology of the course, the focus is on the meaning of the processes of social interaction within “communicative spaces”, which constitute the main starting point for an educational gerontology with a perspective on gender; one which promotes re-signifying a representation of female aging as a different form of standing before the world. Women between 50 and 72 years of age have been participating since 2008. They have been attending a Program of Integrative Attention to the Elderly. In such “qualitative spaces”, these women always express a great interest in learning to face their fears before their own aging, and before the changes that they are ready to take on during their elderly stage and, as well as to project such self-recognizing of themselves and of as other elderly adult females.
