Francisco Javier Estrada is known as the first Mexican electrician due to his important, relevant and great quantity contributions to the physics in particular to electromagnetism. His work situates him as the main Mexican physicist of the nineteen century. The scientific formation of people that contributed to medicine, engineering, chemistry and pharmacy, fact that characterizes the intellectuality of the end of nineteen century and beginning of twenty century in the city of San Luis, was educated by Estrada. In this work, we focus on the contributions to the physics of Francisco Javier Estrada and we give details about the teaching of physics as titular in the cathedra of physics in the Scientific and Literary Institute of San Luis Potosí. In order to give dates and opinions of the intellectual, scientific and popular community, we reproduce journalistic notes about his work, contributions and personality of Francisco J. Estrada.
