Este artigo propõe refletir os conceitos Corpo e Estética, situando-os no cenário das danças populares, especificamente o bumba-meu-boi do Maranhão. Entre tantas leituras possíveis dos textos inscritos no corpo e em diversas situações, nas quais poderíamos situar essa manifestação da cultura sob vários enfoques, a saber: folclórico, histórico, antropológico e outros, para serem lidos, interpretados, compreendidos e atualizados, situamos nossos estudos na condição de fenômeno estético. Para tanto, temos, como interlocução principal, os estudos fenomenológicos sobre o corpo em Maurice Merleau-Ponty.

For In such a way we have as main interlocution the phenomenological studies on the Body in Maurice Merleau-Ponty.
