dc.description Le remplacement d’anciens laboratoires de langues à cassettes ou l’installation de nouveaux laboratoires est à l’ordre du jour dans plusieurs universités françaises, et en particulier dans les IUT. Ce processus semble être hétérogène et généralement mené par un ou deux enseignants de langues qui s’improvisent, pour un temps, ingénieurs de projet et se confrontent à la difficulté de rassembler le reste de l’équipe enseignante, le centre de ressources informatiques et les autres instances concernées, autour d’un projet commun.Mais le défi principal est sans doute celui d’acquérir un laboratoire de langues à la hauteur des besoins en formation en langues du public LANSAD, ce qui implique de mettre au cœur du cahier des charges la didactique des langues et la pédagogie par le multimédia. Nous argumentons que les travaux de chercheurs, en particulier dans le domaine de la didactique multimédia des langues, devraient former la base d’un tel processus afin de se libérer en partie des contraintes budgétaires généralement imposées dans des projets d’une telle envergure.<br>Many universities are in the process of either replacing their old language laboratories or installing new ones in an attempt to improve language training. The general tendency seems to point towards a process led by one or two language teachers who become self-made project managers and face the challenges of involving the rest of the teaching staff as well as the computer resource center and other required branches of the institution.However, the main challenge remains acquiring a language laboratory that will fit the requirements of language training (in particular that of languages for specific purposes), which entails basing specifications primarily on didactic and pedagogic needs. We argue that the findings of research, especially in the field of multimedia learning, should be the basis of such a process in an attempt to break free of the budgetary constraints generally imposed on such a project.
