dc.description Cet article traite des enjeux et problèmes liés au développement de l’autonomie chez des étudiants de langue de spécialité engagés dans des études courtes et intensives. Il définit d’abord les différentes dimensions de l’autonomie afin de les rapporter au contexte institutionnel où elles doivent être mises en place. Puis, à partir des résultats d’une enquête menée auprès d’étudiants d’un Institut Universitaire de Technologie, il détermine le degré actuel d’autonomie des étudiants et suggère différentes solutions pour les encourager à prendre en charge leur apprentissage.<br>This article deals with the issues involved in fostering learner autonomy among second-language students pursuing vocational studies. Mapping out the multiple dimensions of learner autonomy, it determines which ones may be developed within the context of a vocational higher education college. Then, using the results of an enquiry on autonomy among first-year students in one of those institutions, it calculates their current level of autonomy as language learners, and suggests some ways to encourage students to take responsibilility for their own learning.
