The aim of the research is to determine the opinions of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies (CEIT) Department 4th grade teacher trainees on “Generic Teacher Competencies” (GTC). 4th Grade teacher trainees of CEIT Department affiliated to Ankara University Faculty of Educational Sciences in 2006-2007 academic year constitute the study group of the research and all students were included in the study within the scope of the research. The survey of “GTC” developed by Ministry of National Education in collaboration with Higher Education System (2006) was utilized as data collection instrument. Survey of “GTC” utilized as data collection instrument include six main fields of competencies. At the end of the research, it was found out that the opinions of computer teacher trainees are high considering their acquiring level of sub-competency of “Valuing the Student” included in the main competency of “Knowing the Student” regarding the following issues; gender, whether they select the department voluntarily and whether they are going to work as teacher in the future according to the acquiring level of “GTC”.
