RESUMEN: En este trabajo se reproduce y comenta un informe remitido por Juan Roura-Parella, discípulo predilecto de Joaquín Xirau, desde Berlín en febrero de 1932. Frente a la atracción ejercida en España por el positivismo, Roura-Parella —que estudió Pedagogía en Alemania durante dos años (1930-1932)— plantea la alternativa de la pedagogía de las ciencias del espíritu (Geisteswissenschaftliche Pädagogik) que, siguiendo la huella de Dilthey, defendía Spranger en sintonía con la escuela del trabajo (Arbeitsbildung) de Kerschensteiner. De alguna manera, esta pedagogía que combinaba la especialización profesional y los valores objetivos de la cultura deseaba vivificar —de acuerdo con la tradición formativa del idealismo de la libertad (Kant, Schiller, Goethe)— una cultura que, después de la Primera Guerra Mundial, había entrado en una profunda crisis económica, política, social y, sobre todo, espiritual, situación que no era extraña en aquella incipiente España de la Segunda República (1931-1939).<br /><br /> ABSTRACT: This work includes a reproduction of and comment on a report sent from Berlin by Juan Roura-Parella, favourite disciple of Joaquín Xirau, in February 1932. Faced with the appeal of positivism, Roura-Parella —who studied Pedagogy in Germany for two years (1930-1932)— put forward the alternative of spiritual scientific pedagogy (Geisteswissenschaftliche Pädagogik) which, in the footsteps of Dilthey, defended Spranger and befitted Kerschensteiner’s work school (Arbeitsbildung). Somehow, this pedagogy, which combined professional specialisation and the objective values of culture, aimed at revitalising —in accordance with the educational tradition of the idealism of freedom (Kant, Schiller, Goethe)—, a culture that had entered a profound economic, political, social and, most particularly, spiritual crisis after the First World War, a situation that was not unfamiliar in the incipient Spain of the Second Republic (1931-1939).
