During the time of qualitative changes in economical, political life of Russia, the development of labour market and educational services, the effectiveness of education, to a large extent, is determined by the level of graduates competence, their demand and competitiveness at the market of both domestic and foreign labour. Preparation of specialists who are able to work successfully in today’s environment is one of the most urgent tasks of higher education. The purpose of this paper is to find effective means of teaching foreign monologue speech in a non-linguistic university. The article is devoted to the problem of teaching foreign monologue speech in connection with the information of a written text. The author presents advantages of using authentic texts; investigates criteria for their selection; provides tasks aimed at oral foreign monologue abilities development.
