My report is focused on the autoevaluation of schools, which is the potential source of knowledge, where is the school situated, which direction it is heading and also its means by which it obtains some knowledge about the quality of their work. The report is focused on the basic terminology concerning autoevaluation and is concerned with the relationship between internal and external evaluation. A special chapter is dedicated to the actual state of autoevaluation of schools in SR, since the legislative setting doesn´t set the duty of autoevaluation to the schools. Autoevaluation present an issue which is very little theoretically, but mainly methodically and empirically developed in Slovak Republic.We state the main results of the research focused on autoevaluation of the teaching process of the chosen Elementary School.
