Description:
In this study, it was aimed to understand how scientific process skills (SPS) could be improved and to identify the students’ problems in the level of using these skills. Also this study is presented as an example of the applicability of the activities on the textbook in order to create the students’ awareness by emphasizing the SPS, and to improve the students’ SPS.SPS of students were attempted to develop depending on their pre-knowledge by investigating their conceptual changes, and then assessed. Students’ improvement was examined quantitatively either by determining the correctness of the statements on the worksheets, or assessing through the scales selected from the literature. The results indicated that some skills of the students such as formulating a hypothesis, drawing a conclusion, identifying and controlling the variables were lower than some other skills such as creating data collection table and recording data, and drawing graphic skills. The results also indicated that SPS might be improved gradually if it is well emphasized in the classrooms.
