After a brief overview of the FASP and its major attributes we examine forensic science FASP as a relatively new sub-genre. As a result of both its novelty and heterogenic nature, we aim to provide comment on several disciplinary loci which currently contribute to the composition of the substrat scientifique. We introduce this domain by defining the forensic sciences and move on to discuss the manner in which science is represented in the FASP, with particular reference to Kathy Reichs, considered to be prototypical of the professionnel-auteur representing the forensic sciences. The article next goes on to detail three of the major components of the substrat scientifique in Reichs’s novels: the physical environment and forensic procedure which explain the presence of coexisting adstrats professionnels; the manner in which the author details both forensic and scientific procedure; and the fictionalization of scientific discourse. We conclude this article with a brief overview of the dyadic exchange, found to be highly characteristic of Kathy Reichs’ works.<br>Après une brève présentation de la FASP ainsi que de ses caractéristiques, nous examinons un genre spécialisé : la FASP criminalistique. La nouveauté ainsi que la nature hétérogene de la FASP criminalistique motivent notre examen des différentes disciplines qui contribuent au contenu du substrat scientifique. Dans un premier temps nous définirons le domaine de la criminalistique ainsi que sa representation dans la FASP scientifique. Pour ce faire nous nous appuierons plus particulierement sur Kathy Reichs, figure emblématique de l’auteur-professionnel de ce genre. Nous examinerons ensuite la composition du substrat scientifique à travers trois thèmes majeurs dans l’œuvre de Reichs : l’environnement professionnel constitué d’une collection hétérogène d’adstrats professionnels, la façon dont l’auteur détaille les procédures scientifiques et finalement la manière dont le contenu scientifique est intégré dans le substrat scientifique. Nous terminerons avec une brève référence à une étude de cas qui caractérise l’échange dyadique des ouvrages de Kathy Reichs. |
