This article aims at discussing aspects of the Catholic Association of Teachers and Social Culture, in Pelotas city, Brazil, in the 1930's and 1940's. The roles and actions of this association are analyzed via the periodical A palavra. The period set to be studied is related with the most prestigious period of the association. The sources make us believe that the association is thought as an instrument to divulge and defend Catholic Church interests related to educational institutions. The study of this institution is very helpful to understand how catholics had significant influence on teacher profession in Pelotas.
