Este artigo traz reflexões acerca da contribuição do Projeto Tucum - formação de professores índios no exercício do magistério - para a construção de um currículo diferenciado que vem dando sustentação aos Projetos Político-Pedagógicos das Escolas Indígenas Xavante de Mato Grosso. A partir do enfoque das políticas oficiais de educação e da importância da resistência dos movimentos organizados, no sentido de provocar mudanças significativas na implantação e no desenvolvimento da educação escolar indígena, analisamos a experiência dos Xavante e do processo de construção que vêm travando por uma escola específica e diferenciada. São ações e elaborações novas, intensas e significativas que revelam as tensões culturais vivenciadas nas escolas e nas comunidades.<br>This paper offers a series of reflections about the Tucum Project - training Native teachers to the practice of teaching - that aims at building a new, differentiated curriculum, and is the basis of the Political-Pedagogic Projects of the Xavante Native Schools, in the State of Mato Grosso. Focusing on the official education policies, and on the importance of the organized movement resistances, which led to significant changes in both the implementation and development of native school education, it analyses the Xavante experience and its building process, which is fighting for a differentiated, specific school. These new, intense and significant actions and elaborations reveal the cultural tensions experienced within schools and the communities.
