The purpose of this paper is to identify the role of risk management in the formation of one of the key characteristics of business organizations, enabling them to achieve their business goals - competitiveness. It served as the basis for the development of foreign and domestic scientists on problems of forming a system of risk management organization. During the research the authors used empirical and theoretical methods and ways of handling the interpretation of evidence. The article describes the main characteristics of the risk management business structures as the basis of strategic stability. The authors proposed a fundamentally new model of preventive risk management organization based on functional-resource approach and involves the formation and implementation of assessment methods, risk analysis and management of functional subsystems of the enterprise. The article presents the stages of risk management as a process of risk management, and identified the problems hindering the implementation of risk management systems in local business organizations. The results can be used by business structures and government control in the formation of development strategies and ensure the economic sustainability of the organization in the context of globalization and increasing competition.
