À partir d’une expérience d’enseignement de l’anglais menée dans une université de lettres et sciences humaines auprès d’un public composé d’étudiants de Langues pour Spécialistes d’Autres Disciplines (LANSAD) de niveau B2, cet article propose d’utiliser les apports théoriques de la recherche sur l’enseignement d’une discipline en langue étrangère pour faciliter l’apprentissage de l’anglais. Il se fonde sur des exemples de mise en œuvre pédagogique tirés de A History of Violence (Cronenberg 2005) et de films noirs hollywoodiens pour tenter de dégager les points de convergence entre l’enseignement des études cinématographiques et l’apprentissage de l’anglais. En effet, les compétences de réception et de production nécessaires à l’acquisition de la langue ressemblent à celles qui sous-tendent l’apprentissage de l’analyse filmique. Ces points de convergence sont la condition pour arriver à une véritable intégration entre les disciplines.<br>Based on an experience of teaching English to non-specialist students conducted at a French university in humanities, this paper uses some of the theoretical principles laid down by researchers in Content-Based Instruction (CBI) to present an approach devised to facilitate language learning through film. It draws on examples from A History of Violence (Cronenberg 2005) and the Hollywood film noir genre to identify the points of convergence between film studies and English learning. The receptive and productive skills that underpin language acquisition are analogous to those which form the usual steps of film analysis. The argument is that these points of convergence are necessary to achieve true integration between the two subjects. |
