Description:
AbstractThe normal-mode theory is presented for the transmission of sound from a stationary source in a homogeneous airlayer into an arbitrarily stratified ocean. Transmission loss calculations are performed for a Pekeris-type shallow-waterenvironment consisting of a water layer over a uniform solid seabed. Numerical results are presented to illustrate theacoustic field behavior depending on the distance between transmitter and receiver.
