A proposta deste artigo é refletir sobre elementos da cultura escolar, com o objetivo de repensar alguns aspectos inerentes à escola, sua organização e gestão. A partir de um ponto de vista teórico, apresentamos para a discussão duas perspectivas que envolvem a esfera macro e micro: as fragilidades que envolvem o campo da democracia e a extensão cultural que envolve as práticas sociais, neste caso, as práticas de gestão. A discussão proposta segue uma perspectiva dialética que busca capturar as contradições inerentes ao campo educacional, problematizando-as, com intenção de elucidar as tensões político-econômicas e culturais em que se constituem as práticas educacionais. O fortalecimento da escola pública requer a criação de uma cultura de participação para todos os seus segmentos e a melhoria das condições efetivas para que essa participação possa vir a se efetivar. Esse é o desafio que está posto para os educadores que acreditam na possibilidade da criação de espaços democráticos.The purpose of this paper is to discuss elements of school culture, rethinking some aspects related to the school, its organization and management. From a theoretical point of view, we present two perspectives to the discussion surrounding the macro and micro sphere: the weaknesses involving the field of democracy and cultural outreach that involves social practices, in this case, the management practices. The proposed discussion follows a dialectical perspective that seeks to capture the inherent contradictions in the educational field, discussing them with the intention of revealing the political tensions and economic and cultural practices that are educational. The strengthening of public schools requires the creation of a culture of participation for all segments and the improvement of the effective conditions in order to achieve that participation. This is the challenge that is posed to the educators who believe in the possibility of creating democratic spaces.
