The article investigates the cultural and national specificity of linguistic con-sciousness of the Russians and Chinese (with the reference to the semantic field «parents»). We introduce a new concept of congruence of a semantic field. Basing on the analysis of data obtained during free associative experiment, we attempt to identify the degree of congruence.
