Since the Middle Ages and until today, the lecture continues to represent one of the most often used didactic methods at the academic and university level, and that despite very numerous critics that have been opposed to it. Convinced by its efficiency, its adherents tried to suppress its disadvantages and to accentuate its virtues. Thus, the ordinary medieval university monologues have progressively been replaced by lectures that combine expository styles and activating strategies like debates, discussions, problem solving methods. The present study analyses this method from the perspective of the History discipline. Theoretical information, its definition, its properties, the efficiency growing techniques and its implementation steps shall be completed by a few concrete examples applied to the above mentioned discipline.
