Teachers are the people who carry out the educational profession professionally. As a result of this, they should have some certain qualifications. They are defined as; (a) general culture, (b) specific field knowledge and (c) teaching knowledge and skills. Among these, teaching knowledge and skills characterize the properties of teaching profession.With this study, it was aimed to indicate the teaching proficiency in the class of social studies teachers at second stage of primary education. The data were obtained by an observation form that was developed by the researcher. This observation form was set up of thirty close-ended proficiency statements. This study was applied tothe 4th class students of Social Studies Teaching Department, Kırşehir Educational Faculty in School Experience II Course. By this study, it has been found that teachers have had important inadequacies at some teaching proficiencies. Teachers were more insufficient especially at using the teaching materials. But their specific knowledge was really sufficient. As a result of this research, suggestions related to seven teaching proficienciesdimensions were developed.
