Les expériences individuelles de la mobilité se sont démultipliées, rendant la différence plus banale. Malgré ce changement de paradigme, les représentations négatives de l’autre différent, héritées d’un passé colonial, peuvent perdurer. L’anthropologie donne les moyens de penser l’autre différent, mais penser la différence, c’est aussi penser l’impensé (Laplantine 1987). Notre champ, la didactique des langues, est directement concerné : nous devons non seulement penser l’impensé mais aussi repenser le déjà pensé. Mais comment faire prendre conscience aux futurs candidats à la mobilité de ces dimensions cachées qui sous-tendent toute communication avec l’autre ? À travers des exemples concrets, je montrerai comment une approche autobiographique (récits de vie) peut développer une attitude réflexive, permettant à nos étudiants de déconstruire leurs évidences, de repenser la relation du moi à l’autre et vivre l’expérience d’une mobilité identitaire.<br>Individual experiences of student mobility have become more and more frequent, making contact with difference more usual. In spite of this change of paradigm, negative representations of the “other as different”, inherited from a colonial past, still exist. Anthropology gives us the means to think of the “other as different”, but thinking the difference is also thinking what has not been thought (Laplantine 1987). Our field, language didactics, is directly concerned : we must not only work on the “not thought” but also work on the “already thought”. How can we make our future candidates for mobility aware of these hidden dimensions, present in any communication with the other ? Through concrete examples, we shall show how an autobiographical approach (narratives) may develop introspection, allowing our students to deconstruct their prejudices, to rethink the relationship of “myself” to the other, and to experience another identity through mobility.
